Why people are moving to regional Victoria

After purchasing the property in 2013, vendors Irene and Greg Adams spent the past seven years improving the block.

“All we’ve done is work on the property and just get it up to what it is now — there’s nothing else that needs to be done,” Ms Adams said.

“We have loved doing that part of it and building the business up.”

Passing on the property and its kennel and cattery, A Dogs Domain and Cats Too, would allow the couple to spend several months in Italy once travel restrictions are lifted, Ms Adams said.

“It is a very hard decision because we love the dogs — I’ve been around dogs all my life,” Ms Adams said. “That’s the side of it I really love.”

“I’ve got one girl who works for me and she just plays with the dogs — that’s her job … in this downtime it’s very hard for her because she absolutely loves her job.”

Double-glazed sliding doors keep the kennels from getting cold overnight, while outdoor play areas ensure pets get plenty of exercise.

“We try and tire them out,” Ms Adams said.

With the site located between Melbourne and the snowfields, Ms Adams said winter was a busy time for the business.

“You’re dealing with people that are going on holidays so you’re not dealing with stressful situations at all,” she said.

“Last year we spent 78 days away – that’s how good the business is, it can run without you being here.”

The property last sold for $660,000 in August 2013, according to realestate.com.au data.
