AWARD-WINNING Sunshine Coast building designer Chris Clout is at it again, this time creating a multimillion-dollar masterpiece with an indoor basketball court down south.
Mr Clout’s latest creative building design is at Coffs Harbour, in a new estate atop a hill.
The directive was to ‘design a home with minimal footprint’, including an indoor basketball half court for the owner’s son, according to Mr Clout who said it was a “challenging process”.
“It’s something we haven’t done before,” Mr Clout said.
“Our client wanted something different”.
The three-storey home will be built on a 1350sq m double block taking in views of the bay from the northern to the southern end.
Expected to cost about $5 million to build, Mr Clout said a lap pool and glass spa extended over a six-car garage. A sunken fire pit is included in the long list of luxe features.
A tennis court and gym will be part of the new build as well as a bar, games and media room overlooking the 15m x 9m basketball court.
Mr Clout said most of the house was to be built underground and described it as a “standout” for Coffs Harbour.
“It’s pretty up-market for the area,” Mr Clout said.
“There’s four self-contained rooms right on the top level.
“One level will have five bedrooms. And there is a beautiful curved staircase through the central area of the house too”.
Another project, already under construction at Castaways Beach on the Sunshine Coast, is Eagles Nest, which Mr Clout is also building for his family, including three young sons.
With 360 degree views of the coastline, the $3.5 million home, features a 13-car garage. In the basement area is a gym, sauna, bathroom, laundry, wine cellar and swimming pool.
Mr Clout said the top level had a raised lounge area with a fire place and there was a lift up to a study room.
The middle level has ocean views and a soccer field on the front lawn.
Known for his dream creation of a four-level superyacht-style home on the Sunshine Coast, Mr Clout is no stranger to creative masterpieces.
Worth about $5 million, Crusoe House at Castaways Beach, is a five-bedroom resort-style project.
“The superyacht home is where I’d like to be,” he said.
