Fresh off an exciting announcement of a new tour in 2021, Amy Shark – a down-to-earth star Queensland can be proud of – is also a pretty cool landlady. Here’s how to rent her digs.
The Gold Coast star who’s fame has gone international announced her “biggest headline tour of Australia” ever with tickets on sale to the public a week ago. The tour runs in June/July 2021.
She and husband Shane Billings have quietly got about tidying their three bedroom lowset cottage in Broadbeach Waters for the past five years, having rented it out for the past two.
The house was built in the 1960s and the couple have kept it neat and tidy, putting in a modern paint job since buying ti for $580,000 in June 2015.
With demand surging for rentals on the Gold Coast, the couple has raised the rent from $595 a week in 2018 to $650 a week now, with the property listing managed by LJ Hooker Southport.
Even then that’s below the median asking rent for Broadbeach Waters which currently sits at a whopping $750 a week, $100 more than the star is asking.
For that price, the star will also have the lawns done for you so no summers pulling out the lawnmower for her tenants. Pet are negotiable and the lease offered is six months or 12 months.
The listing described the home as a “great property for those with children or pets as it is fully fenced and there is enough room to play”.
While the cottage may seem very down-to-earth, its location does all talking, sitting in a quiet street just behind the Star Casino.
Among its chams the home has a working fireplace “for colder winter nights” and is also airconditioned for hot sweltering summers.
The rear patio area was said to be “great for entertainment” running along the back of the home from the dining room to the bedroom and there is also a front wooden deck.
Amy Shark’s “sophomore album” Cry Forever is available for preorder now,
