Gold Coast house snapped up in 36 hours for street record

A FAMILY looking to escape Melbourne snapped up a Gold Coast property within 36 hours of it hitting the market.

The interstate buyers, who could not physically inspect the property, relied on videos to make their decision before paying $2.225 million for the four-bedder at 43 Petrel Ave, Mermaid Beach.

Manly Sea Eagles legend Anthony Watmough buys Fairlight home for $2.05m

Former Manly Sea Eagle Anthony Watmough and his wife, former model Elle Mc­Leod, have bought back into the northern beaches market.  

They have secured a four-bedroom Fairlight home for $2,050,000. Watmough, who played 278 games for the Sea Eagles, made the purchase after selling their transformed North Curl Curl home.

There’s more demand—and less supply—for rural and suburban neighborhoods than cities as the pandemic influences homebuyer preferences. Still, prices are up 6.7% in urban areas.

The housing market is hottest in less densely populated areas, with July data showing more buyer interest in rural and suburban neighborhoods than cities. 

For homes in rural areas nationwide, the median sale price increased 11.3% year over year in the four weeks ending August 2, and it rose 9.2% in suburban areas. Urban areas saw a smaller 6.7% home-price increase. Homes in rural areas have had higher price growth than suburban and urban areas
