There is a grand circular staircase, curved walls and doors, an internal lift and a soaring triple-height ceiling above the family room. Built of high quality concrete the property has been over-engineered to last a lifetime and is on the northern beaches close to the popular waterway of Pittwater.

Five bedrooms, seven bathrooms and a self-cleaning swimming pool.

Curved walls, red gum floors and an elevated view of Pittwater.

The house has a two-wall system to provide a perfect waterproof structure, so the solid home is effectively a building within a building.

Agent Ryan Petrie, of LJ Hooker Mona Vale, said the outside drainage system which captures rainwater into tanks was over-designed in line with 100 worst event probability and checked by one of Australia’s best engineering firms.

“A large retention pond is located under the driveway and this could also be made into a water tank.

The home is built to outsmart climate change! The power supply is three phase with an extensive system of sub switchboards each with sensitive fault to earth sensing on every floor and the swimming pool area,” Mr Petrie said.

In addition, the swimming pool cleans itself and the balustrades, gutters and downpipes are made of stainless steel.

But aside from all the technical attributes, it is also a beautiful home orientated to the northeast and elevated above Pittwater.

Features include huge windows showing off the view, bifolds and French doors opening up to the outside, solid red gum timber floors, a Miele kitchen with three sinks and a breakfast bar, main bedroom with spa ensuite and a walk-in wardrobe and seven bathrooms each finished to five-star hotel standard.

Dr Tyree bought the Alexandra Cres, Bayview property in 2013 for $3.9 million, drawn by the 360-degree views of Pittwater and the garden wonderland with sandstone paths, alfresco patios and a stone flagged firepit platform.

The agent is quoting comparable sales above $6 million but is also encouraging buyers looking to spend north of $5.5 million to view the home.

Dr Tyree is a former engineer and educator who was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2019 for his ‘significant service to engineering and to education.’

He served at the University of Wollongong and was involved in appraising courses, innovation, research and chaired the Research and Development Committee.
