Getting Down To Basics with Parenting

The Easy Guide to Diaper Changes

Diapers are also known as nappies. This is a type of an underwear that contains and absorbed the waste products after the user urinates or defecates. The diaper prevents dirtying the other clothes and the environment. An adult suffering from dementia, diarrhea or immobility can also use diapers. Cloth diapers and disposable diapers are the major categories of diapers. The disposable diapers are supposed to be disposed after use. Since the cloth diapers are made of materials which can be washed, they are to be washed after use. A parent or a guardian is supposed to change the diapers once they become wet and soiled. As a parent, please look at the following baby diaper changing steps carefully.

The first step in changing diapers is making sure all the requirements are within reach. The requirements include clean diapers, warm water, cotton balls, cream or oil, baby washcloths and clean clothes. You should have the right size of diapers. You should have all these supplies as you are leaving home. Women shoulder diaper bags and manly backpack style diaper bags are suitable for carrying these supplies.

The next step is to place the baby on his/her on a thick clean towel or a changing table. In order to make the child more comfortable, please put him/her on a pad cover. Use a diaper wipe warmer to clean the baby’s bottom. In case you want to know the perfect wipe warmers for your baby, please click here. Lay a clean diaper on one side of the baby. You can give the baby a mobile so as to entertain him/her as you change diapers. Parents are advised to avoid leaving the baby to go and collect some supplies since the baby may roll over and fall down.

The next thing is to wipe the baby carefully from the front to the back. The clean part of the diaper can be used in wiping the baby’s bottom. A washcloth and warm water can be used in wiping off the sticky stool.

Ensure the bottom of the baby has dried up in order to avoid a rash. The parent can also use a baby washcloth to wipe the area and speed up the drying process. Use diaper cream to smear the areas affected by a rash.

The fifth step is to lift the baby’s legs up and put the unfolded clean diaper you initially set aside under his/her bottom. The parent should ensure the private parts is pointing down in case his/her child is a boy. One is supposed to pull the front part of the diaper between the legs of the baby for proper fastening.

All parents and guardians are supposed to follow these steps when changing baby diapers.
