TONY Burnett, hotelier, has every reason to say ‘cheers!’ after setting a price record for the Gold Coast’s most elite beachfront apartment building, the Ocean Isles at Main Beach.
The operator of properties such as Waxy’s Irish bar in Surfers Paradise and Pimpama Tavern, and wife Toni have sold their 680 sqm pad to a Brisbane buyer for $6.52 million.
The apartment, bought for $5 million last year, set the record in the five-title Ocean, at $6.42 million, 13 years ago.
Bruce Coulson, a former childcare group operator who in October set a riverfront residential record with the sale of his Isle of Capri mansion for $27 million, hasn’t dillydallied in snaring a new abode.
He and wife Carolyne are the mooted buyers, at $8.5 million of a Broadbeach Waters home that in 2017 was marketed at nearly $10 million.
The three-level Monaco St home spans 1200 sqm and includes a cinema and nanny’s quarters.
PALMER SITE SPRINGS TO LIFE
Michael Palmer, son of billionaire Clive Palmer, appears to be doing a spot of ‘building’ his own fortune on the Sovereign Islands.
Framing has appeared on a site Michael in 2012 bought for $840,000 from owners who were under pressure and had paid $1.25 million before the GFC.
The waterfront Regents Crt site was bought with a basement and pool built and was sold with plans for a 930 sqm home.
